From July 11-15, UCC Media Justice will be at the United Church of Christ’s General Synod in Kansas City, Missouri, offering opportunities to connect, learn, and take action on media and communications justice:
- We’ll be leading a workshop called Media Madness: How to Spot and Stop Disruption of Peace and Justice in the Media on Sunday, July 13, from 10:30am-11:30am in Room 2214. You can find more details about Synod workshops here.
- We are hosting a happy hour on Monday, July 14 from 5-6:30pm in the Drum Room, located inside the Hilton President Hotel at 1329 Baltimore Ave. in Kansas City.
- Throughout Synod, be sure to visit our exhibitor booth, #1139, where we will be sharing space with KPVF-LP, a forthcoming UCC-sponsored public low-power radio station in St. Louis.
- Members of the UCC Media Justice board will also be available to speak during breakfast caucuses.
Anyone attending, including delegates, can use this resource to Speak Out on the Synod floor for media justice.
Starting this week and throughout Synod, we are inviting all UCC members to sign our Know Peace Online pledge — a commitment to building a more peaceful, more just digital world. Our workshop will include materials for adult education in congregational and community settings. And our booth offers a chance to make your voice heard in this campaign.
Every two years, General Synod brings together faithful members of the United Church of Christ for inspirational worship, deep fellowship with friends old and new, and public witness — including thoughtful engagement with the business of the church.
