UCC Media Justice presents its outreach toolkit nationwide

UCC Media Justice was pleased to present to all the UCC's churches and members last month on the UCC's national webinar series, Thursdays for the Soul. UCC Media Justice's advocacy helped create a new federal program that offers low-income families up to $30/month off their internet bill–or up to $75 in tribal areas. But as we explained on the webinar: we need your help! Tens of millions of families could benefit, but they are not because: 1) they don’t know about the program, and 2) when they hear about the program, it sounds too good to be true. As trusted partners in local communities, church members, clergy and other volunteers are particularly well-positioned to help eligible households take advantage of this new program.

UCC Media Justice On the (virtual) Road in Missouri

Cheryl presented via zoom to the Eastern Association of the Missouri Mid-South Conference. Their justice committee wants to bring broadband to their rural area. Cheryl discussed the current state of broadband maps, and learned about how justice and broadband intersect in eastern Missouri. Then, she left them with a key observation, "to build a broadband network you need a human network." Several new federal programs are rolling out in all states throughout the country right now and now is the time to get active. Reach out to Cheryl to schedule your presentation.
