Hear his thoughts at the 39th Annual Parker Lecture on October 19

Eric K. Ward

Eric K. Ward, this year's Parker Lecturer will receive the Train Foundation's Civil Courage Prize later this month—the first U.S. laureate. As the Train Foundation explains, Mr. Ward,

is one of a small group of leaders of color who have been working to counter organized hate since the 1980s. During his career, Ward traveled by bus across thousands of miles of predominantly white, rural areas to establish hundreds of anti-hate task forces.

The Train Foundation also acknowledged Ward's especial expertise relevant to the Parker Lecture, his role as a performer who uses "music to advance inclusive democracy" and "to create new narratives that lift-up anti-bigotry and inclusion and puncture the myths driving American political and social divisions."
