How to Get Broadband Nationally & Locally

Live workshop: Wednesday, July 7, 1– 2:00 pm ET

Social justice, communications justice, and affordable access go hand-in-hand, and in no time has this been more clear than during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The UCC’s 60-year-old media justice ministry has been working on these issues for decades, and their importance is more evident than ever before. Come to our workshop to learn about:

  • A new $50/month subsidy ($75 on tribal lands) to help low-income families purchase broadband.
  • How you can follow in the footsteps of a student organizer who successfully her ISP to increase speeds in its low-income low-cost broadband product.
  • Emulate a local church in Massachusetts that hosted a remote learning center using its wi-fi during the pandemic.
  • Link up with local digital inclusion advocates around the country through the National Digital Inclusion Alliance.
Don't forget to add July 7, at 1pm eastern (10 am pacific) to your calendar after you register! Find our workshop here on the Synod workshop platform (there is a separate free signon to get to the workshop platform).
Did you hear? The Parker Lecture will be offered online on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
The emergency broadband benefit is here! Low-income people can get $50 per month off broadband access from your own ISP.  Learn more and please share this information with people who can benefit.
