April 21 DC Workshop -- Confronting Chaos Online: Hate Speech and How to Stop It
People of faith stand up against hate in our communities, and we can do no less online. Join the United Church of Christ Justice and Witness Ministries and the UCC's Media Justice Ministry to explore these issues. The timing is well-suited to individuals in Washington to attend Ecumenical Advocacy Days and is open to all members of the Washington interfaith community. Sign up and join us in person in Washington, DC.

Active in the New Administration
OC Inc. has been busy in 2017 already. In January our policy advisor, Cheryl Leanza, attended a national faith-based community organizing run by PICO. We challenged Ajit Pai, the new FCC Chair, to lead using social justice values. We helped prepare for the oral argument defending caps on predatory prison phone rates. On Capitol Hill, OC Inc. coordinated a dozen meetings with Congressional leaders describing the media and telecom civil rights agenda. We joined in defending net neutrality, helped craft the letter opposing the Trump FCC's decision harming low-income broadband subsidies, and opposing Department of Homeland Security intrusion into social media accounts of people seeking visas to enter the United States.
Join Us: Time of Renewal
OC Inc. is considering new ways to connect with members of the UCC, including a new collaborative leadership group and is actively seeking new governing board members who represent the full diversity of our denomination. If you are interested in any of these, please reach out to Cheryl Leanza at firstname.lastname@example.org or any member of our Board.
